Lakers’ Great Carmelo Anthony On Lakers’ Age Narrative

The Los Angeles Lakers roster coming into the 2021-22 season is very seasoned, to say the least. They currently have five players under 30, while the seven other players are under contract in their early to late 30s.
On Monday afternoon, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin interviewed newly signed Carmelo Anthony. During their interview, Anthony was asked about being a part of the elder statesmen team.
“We don’t care,” Anthony said Monday, via ESPN. “We don’t care. We make our own narrative.
“I like when people talk about the age. It gives a better story. I think it gives a better story. I think people forget, at the end of the day, it’s about basketball. You got to know how to play basketball. You got to have that experience. I think that’s what we bring at this point and time. Our talent, our skill, but also our experience.”
Earlier this month, Anthony’s new teammate and friend LeBron James tweeted his reaction to the age criticism.
“Keep talking about my squad, our personnel ages, the way he plays, he stays injured, we’re past our time in this league, etc etc etc,” James’ tweet, which was later deleted, read.
“Do me one favor, PLEASE!!!! And I mean PLEASE!!!!
“Keep that same narrative ENERGY when it begins! That’s all I ask.”
As for Anthony averaged 13. 4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in 69 games for the Blazers.
