Sixers’ Danny Green Return Is Based On Grade Of The Calf Strain

Philadelphia 76ers guard Danny Green will be reevaluated in a couple of weeks. Following an MRI confirmed he strained his right calf, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.
The injury took place during the Sixers’ 127-111 win over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 3 on Friday night. The three-time champion will miss the rest of the Eastern Conference semifinals but could return to the next round if Philadelphia moves on.
If you are asking isn’t that the same injury that Kevin Durant suffered during the 2019 playoffs, you are correct.
Former Los Angeles Lakers trainer shared with me on Sunday afternoon, depending on the degree of the calf strain Green could miss a significant amount of time.
“Correct, KD had a right calf strain, Danny Green is currently rehabbing a right calf strain, said Nunez.
“Not sure what grade of calf strain Danny Green has been diagnosed, but if it’s a 1st degree, the average return to play timeline is 2-4 weeks.”
Green left with 8 minutes, 15 seconds remaining in the first quarter with Philly up 6-4 and was replaced by Matisse Thybulle.
Speaking of Thybulle, he has a fan in legendary basketball trainer Mark Edwards. Edwards recently shared that he could see the second year man out of the University of Washington will win the Defensive Player of the Year award in the next couple of years.
“Definitely! I think that is something that he will get in the next two to three years. I think so because he is so active once he gets a starting gig, It is going to be hard to stop him from just being overall dominant. His defensive leads to offense and the NBA is built on stops,” said Edwards.
