Damian Lillard Wishes Adidas Would’ve Highlighted Another 50 Point Game

Last week, Damian Lillard and Adidas dropped his latest shoe. This time it was a color wave to celebrate his iconic game-winning shot in the 2019 Playoff against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Nick De Paula, ESPN’s sneaker insider unveiled the news on Twitter.
This edition of Dame’s signature shoe will commemorate the most famous moment of Lillard’s career. Lillard dropped 50 points and topped it off with a game-winner over Paul George.
The sneakers feature an OKC color on the outside, with Dame stats from the game also printed in similar colors on the sole.
Although this game is a great memory for Blazer fans, It also sent the Thunder organization into rebuilding mode. In the off-season they decided to trade Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers and Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets. Lillard and Adidas elected to release his latest shoe a week before the Blazers take on the Thunder at home.
After dropping 39 points in a victory against the New York Knicks on Sunday night, Lillard was asked about his new shoe.
“Honestly, It is a part of a series of shoes that Adidas has been working on where they are acknowledging guys with the brand’s 50 point games. So, it was not just my shoe; other guys across the brand. So, you should be expecting shoes like the D Roses, James Hardens,” Lillard told Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian.
“Guys who scored 50 points having a shoe based on those nights. For mine they chose the OKC game. I think I’ve had other games to choose from, but I am ready to let that moment go. That is why I would have liked it to be a different game because I don’t want to come off that I am living in the moment from two years ago. Obviously, it was a big moment, but it is what it is.”
The Blazers will take on the Thunder on Monday night at Modacenter at 9pm EST.
