Dallas Cowboys Should Consider Signing Colin Kaepernick, Says Terrell Owens
Colin Kaepernick has not suited up for an NFL team since he decided to take a knee during the National Anthem in 2016. Kaepernick was taking a stand against police brutality and the killings of unarmed African Americans.
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Network’s Steve Wyche.
“To me, this is bigger than football, and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
The 49ers and Colin agreed to part ways and received an offer from the Denver Broncos, but declined it due to the organization wanting him to take a pay cut. It was later reported that the Ravens had some interest but after his girlfriend, Nessa Diab compared Ray Lewis and Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti to characters from” Django Unchained” played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson nothing came of it.
The Dallas Cowboys are in desperate need of a veteran quarterback as they are now down to their third string-QB Ben DiNucci after injuries to Andy Dalton and Dak Prescott.
During an IG Live interview with The Philly Inquirer on Friday Hall of Famer, Terrell Owens suggested that the Cowboys should consider signing Colin Kaepernick.
“The [Dallas] Cowboys have a quarterback situation with Andy Dalton going out last week with the concussion. Now, he is in protocol, they have a quarterback and I don’t even know who he is [Ben DiNucci]. This is definitely a situation where the Cowboys may be desperate for a quarterback at this point and time,” said Owens.
“And if I need to say it, I will put it out there. This is a situation where you call on a guy like Colin Kaepernick. They are bringing everyone else to come in and sure up some of these backup positions. This a situation that would [Be good] for Colin Kaepernick. “
In the past Jerry Jones stated that they were in the quarterback business and Cooper Rush was a better backup than Kaepernick.
“We aren’t in the quarterback business, we are in the business of looking for talent—either now or in the future” and largely danced around a direct question about whether the team believes Cooper Rush is a better backup quarterback than Kaepernick could be in Dallas by saying, “We believe we are in great shape relative to our future.”
When Kaepernick workout in front of several NFL teams’ personnel, the Cowboys were not in attendance, and Jones referred to it as “a circus,” ncehilljr/status/1196804283980828675?s=20″>according to Clarence Hill Jr of the Star-Telegram.
Maybe Dallas would consider bringing him in considering their current situation at the QB position. It all depends on how desperate they are right to secure a playoff position this season.
