Zoe Saldana Will Blow Everyone Away With Her Performance In ‘From Scratch,’ Says Reese Witherspoon
Last month, Zoe Saldana, Tiffany Haddish, and Reese Witherspoon were on Clubhouse in the BESE Clubroom discussing the topic of Diversity in storytelling.
During their hour and ten minutes long conversation there was a point where Reese Witherspoon and Zoe Saldana discussed their upcoming project with Netflix slated to be released sometime next year.
“With Reese we’ve known each other indirectly for years through mutual friends and mutual reps and everything, but it wasn’t until this year where we were able to work together on a film based on a book that is part of her club,” said Saldana.
“The book is called ‘From Stratch,’ a New York Times Best Seller and Hello Sunshine is producing it and you guys are beautiful enough to let us share that space with you to tell this amazing story. So, we shot this limited series that will be coming out next year on Netflix.”
Witherspoon added, “Yeah, I mean we were so thrilled. I remember I read the book and I was sitting across from Zoe and her husband, Marco at dinner, and all I wanted to do is say, ‘oh my God,’ I want you to read this book because I want you to be the star of this.
“So, I went to the bathroom and I called my executive and I was like, can I tell her now? She’s like, no, we don’t have the right yet, but it’s set in Italy and America, and it’s a true story. It’s a beautiful romance, so we read it and it’s such could not be any more romantic, sweeping, and epic. It’s just going to blow everyone away her beautiful work coming next year on Netflix. “
Earlier this year, Sheldon Bailey shared his experience working with Saldana.
“I’m a huge fan of Zoe Saldana. So, to be able to work with her is really cool,” said Bailey.
Adding, “I think this story is amazing because it is actually written by an actress that actually went to Italy. She fell in love, and Zoe is actually married to an Italian guy. So, it is a very cool dynamic of seeing someone in my industry be a first-time executive producer for something that she wrote, and she is working with her sister. Her sister is also an executive producer from Empire.
So, to see two black women come together to write this project, and then be led by Zoe and produced by Reese Witherspoon production company. It showcases their element of female empowerment and also black empowerment. It is an incredible project to be a part of, and it also features an incredible black director as well.”
From Scratch is slated to be released on Netflix sometime in 2022.
