Last week, members of both the NBA and WNBA teamed up and auctioned off game-worn items to help raise money for Daunte Wright’s family.

Wright was killed by police in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, during a traffic stop on April 11th. The incident happened not too far from where ex-officer Derek Chauvin’s trial was located. Warriors All-Star Steph Curry was asked how can athletes as a whole help push the WNBA forward.

“They are very consistent with their stance on social justice, racial justice, and any issue they are passionate about. Collective energy amongst all the athletes, and we can all find ways to collaborate. Combine our worlds, reach, our resources to do [some] special things off the court. Impacting things going forward.”

He also talked about the CarMax commercial featuring him and WNBA legend, Sue Bird made its debut three weeks ago. The three-time champion shared why he decided to collaborate with the future Hall of Famer.

“The CarMax thing with Sue [Bird] was a special fun opportunity to shout her out for all her successes and accolades & what she has done in her career,” Curry said.
