TV Production Team Tried to Grease Suns’ Devin Booker After Massive Extension Was Announced [Watch]

Trae Young and Devin Booker are amongst the top young guards in the NBA. They’re in the same age bracket, so it’s not surprising that they have mutual respect.

Both Young and Booker have opposing coaches and players losing sleep the night before they have to take on the Hawks and Suns during the NBA season, regular season, and playoffs.

Young had already signed a contract extension last year. Now was the time for Booker to follow suit. He signed a four-year supermax contract extension valued at $224 million according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

However, there was a minor glitch in the way ESPN reported the story during it’s national television coverage on Sports Center.

They have reduced the amount of significant margin on the ticker. The agreement, valued at $224 million, was reduced to just $22 million on the bottom of the screen.

Well, Hawks guard Trae Young noticed the error and posted on his Instagram story with the caption, “Ayyooo! This looks a little low #ItsaSteal.”

This agreement would begin with the 2024-25 season and tie Booker to the Phoenix Suns until 2027-28. Booker was named to NBA First Team after averaging 26.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists while shooting 46.6 percent from the field last season. He’s also a three-time NBA All-Star and was eliminated in the Western Conference Semifinals by the Dallas Mavericks in seven games.

While Young he signed a contract extension from the Atlanta Hawks last season, but after being named to the Third Team All NBA this past season, that deal increased to a five year deal worth $207 million. Young last season averaged 28.4 points, 9.7 assists, and shooting 46 percent from the field per game.
