Portland Trailblazer shooting guard C.J.McCollum is a five-year veteran out of Lehigh Mountian University where he was Patriots Men’s Basketball Player of the Year in 2010 and 2012. ThePortland Trailblazer selected McCollum with the 10th pick in the 2013 draft. He spent some time in the NBA D League now the G-League in 2014 for the Idaho Stampede. In 2016, their name was changed and relocated to Salt LakeCity. They are now called the Salt Lake City Stars.

In his first two seasons in Portland, he was in reserve role, and he would become a starter after deciding to move to the shooting guard position. Since then he and his backcourt mate  Damian Lillard have created one of the league’s best backcourts.

During his time at Lehigh Mountian University, McCollum obtained his degree in Journalism and he has aspirations to pursue a career in journalism after he retires from the NBA.

The Trailblazers were recently in Dallas to take on the Dallas Mavericks. After the game during his post-game media session I asked McCollum about the uses of the word “Sources,” and if he thought if  the word had been overused by the media and getting out of hand.

“At times I think social media can be a gift and curse. It gives everyone a voice, which can be a problem at times. When are not educated and don’t do your research, but overall I think that first amendment you have right to speak. You have to right to spread rumors even there not true its a sick part of life, but it is a part of it,” said McCollum
