In a recent Twitter Space hosted by PhoenixThaBoss, the Spaces discussed the top cornerbacks in the last 25 years. The title caught the attention of ex-NFL cornerback Antonio Cromartie. Cromartie shared that Marcus Peters reminded him of former Eagles and Patriots great Asante Samuel during the conversation.
“Marcus Peters reminds me of Asante Samuel because he had great off technique, could see the ball,” said Cromartie.
“He could see the quarterback and the receiver took some educated guess, but that’s part of playing the cornerback position. You are going to take your gambles, but the kid played tremendously. You can’t take that away from him. I think Asante Samuel and Marcus Peters are the same player and I believe Asante Samuel is a transcending player because Mr. Pick Six did his thing.”
Speaking of Peters, he had 4 interceptions, 52 tackles, 46 solo tackles, one tackle for loss, and one quarterback hit.
During Samuel’s career, he won two Superbowls, went to four-Pro Bowls, and had 51 interceptions for 728 yards, and six touchdowns.
