It has been less than six years since NBA Champion and Los Angeles Lakers legend Lamar Odom was hospitalized.

After being found unconscious at the legal brothel Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada, the former Laker was in critical condition at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. But, according to ESPN, those next 48 hours were necessary.

“the next 48 hours are critical.”

Also, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Odom’s former teammate, the late Kobe Bryant visited Odom at the hospital. He also received a visit from former Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, per The Los Angeles Daily News.

Dennis Hof, who owns Love Ranch and other legal brothels in Nevada, stated that his staff picked up Odom from a house in Las Vegas.

“He just wanted to get away, have a good time, and relax,” Hof told The Associated Press in a phone interview.

Hof, who owns the Love Ranch and other legal brothels in Nevada, said his staff had picked up Odom from home in Las Vegas on Saturday.

“He just wanted to get away, have a good time and relax,” Hof told The Associated Press in a phone interview.

Hof said Odom was “happy, he was sleeping every night” while visiting, but two women went to check on Odom Tuesday afternoon after not hearing from him since early morning, and found him face down and unconscious.

When they turned him on his side in the direction of a 911 operator, Odom started “throwing up all kinds of stuff.”

When the news of Odom being hospitalized first broke, Daniel Artest, the brother of Laker great and NBA Champion Ron Artest, gave a backstory of when he heard the news. The younger Artest recently told the story on The Queensberry Project podcast.

“I was living in LA at the time, and I have a friend who worked in the hospital and just hit me up. She’s like yo LO in here, and nobody’s here it looks bad. So, I jet from LA to Vegas, one of the first ones there,” said Artest.

“I got to go make sure he was good in the room, and when the Kardashians came, they shut it all down; it was crazy, but it was dope to see familiar faces like yourself [Zab Judah 6x boxing champion], Coach Jim Herrick, and even like the NBA media that was there. Shoutouts to Ramona Shelburne, who was there. I don’t know how she found my hotel room, but she was there too, as well, and the fact that she was gracious. Not pressing.”

According to Zab Judah, it was nerve-wracking because at the time, Odom was in Vegas, and he came to Judah’s gym every day.

“It was nerve-wracking because at the time that it happened, Lamar Odom Was in Las Vegas, and he came to my gym every day, and we were working out. We were doing boxing workouts and everything. So when this day happened, we worked out, and I didn’t even know,” said Judah.

“The next day when it was time to go to the gym, they said Lamar would not becoming. His driver told me [he was in the hospital], and we got over the hospital, and we were just there. It was sad, but shout out to Kris Jenner, man. Boy, you saw the power of Kris Jenner, she came through that hospital man and shut it down, my brotha. Big props to her. I’m not going to front. I got mad respect for Kris, if you weren’t a familiar face you were out of there.”

Odom would make a full recovery, but it wasn’t easy. He had 12 strokes and six heart attacks. While he appears in the series Laugh Out Loud by Kevin Hart “Cold As Balls” in 2018, he revealed what he went through.

“All my doctors that see me say I’m a walking miracle,” Odom told Hart. “I had 12 strokes and six heart attacks when I was in my coma.”

Odom was able to fight his way back and is doing well.

“It’s a good day to be alive considering the alternative,” Odom said.
