This past season, the University of Miami made the decision to hire Manny Diaz to replace Manny Diaz as their head coach. Diaz’s first move as the Hurricanes’ new head coach was lore David Feeley away from Temple University and hired him as head of the Canes strength and conditioning program.
Over the past four seasons, Feeley has numerous stops at Ball State, South Carolina, and at Temple University. During that time frame, he has helped a variety of different players reach their goals of playing the NFL. This past draft alone, he sent 12 players to the next level player such as Danny Pinter, D.J. Wonnum, Bryan Edwards, T.J. Brunson, Chapelle Russell, Shaun Bradley, Matt Hennessy, Shaq Quarterman, Jonathan Garvin, K.J. Osborn, Los Angeles Chargers rookie Romeo Finley, and DeeJay Dallas.
Speaking of Finley, he was recently on the ‘What’s Your Opinion Podcast,’ and talked about how David Feeley has helped prepare him for the next level.
樂威壯“So, when [David] Feeley came in he came with the new stuff and he set the standard from day one. Just how he goes about things and going to Miami we are supposed to do certain things and brought in how he did things. And you know at first how every college is, he is doing this and doing that. You have to let it flow and feel the guy out, and it turns out that he is a really good coach and even a better person. He helped us so much and even me too. He brought out some things that I really did not see myself doing. One of them is leading and talking out, he brought that out of me,” said Finley.
“He helped [get me] where I am today and I thank him for that… Him coming into UM [University of Miami] and what he brings is really going to change the way things [work there] and he is implementing it going into year two in Miami. I think he is really going to turn that program around.”
Seahawks running back DeeJay also spoke highly of Feeley as well when made an appearance on The Smoke podcast earlier this year.
“He made our team better,” 威而鋼 rticle/Miamis-David-Feely-developed-10-picks-in-the-2020-NFL-Draft-146757339/” target=”_blank”>Dallas said. “As long as he’s there, the team is going to be well-conditioned, and shoot, a group of warriors because [of] that offseason program, them 33 110 [yard sprints]? Yeah, that’s no joke. I feel like as long as Coach Feeley is there, no matter what coaches roll in or roll out, as long as Coach Feeley is there, Miami will be the most well-conditioned and prepared team, physically.”
Canes special teams coach Jonathan Patke has also done an excellent job helping to put his players in great positions to excel at the next level and the NFL is taking notice.
The Seattle Seahawks brass is really excited about the Hurricane coaching staff is doing as they have taken Miami running backs, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer in back to back drafts.
Seahawks general manager John Schneider was a guest on 950 KJR AM with Dave Mahler and Dick Fain back in May and revealed that he like was happening down at ‘The U’.
“Deejay Dallas is a guy that kept rising for us [in the draft] and what we saw in Travis [Homer] last year and the way that they approach special teams at the University of Miami, and the way they put an emphasis on it, and the guys compete. Whether you are a starter or a third-string guy,” said Schneider. “They have a really nice special teams group down there. The guy is a damn good special teams player, he can return punts and kickoffs, and he has a real nice feel about him. So, he was a player that we didn’t want to pass up.”
