Earlier this year, former NBA veteran Jason Terry was interviewed by the Utah Jazz for their vacant head coach position after Quinn Snyder stepped down. Terry would confirm the reports during an interview with Bally Sports’ Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson.

Terry said he had “a great conversation” with Jazz CEO Danny Ainge, GM Justin Zanik, and other members of Utah’s front office.

“Their process, their search, is well-rounded,” Terry said. “A lot of great candidates, but obviously I have to put myself above the rest.”

“(The Jazz) organization has been first class since I’ve known it, for the 19 years I played and after, and I can tell they’re headed in the right direction,” he said.

“They’ve got a great core nucleus of guys and talent that speaks for itself. They’ve been the class of the Western Conference, though they haven’t won a championship yet or been to the NBA Finals, I just think they’re the right voice away, and hopefully I can be that voice for them.”

Unfortunately, Terry did not land the head coaching position in Utah, which went to Will Hardy. However, Hardy collected the former Sixth man of the Year winner to be a part of his coaching staff. It was also rumored that Terry was a candidate to join the Mavericks’ staff last summer.

Terry’s former championship team Corey Brewer, who now works as an assistant coach with the New Orleans Pelican nothing but nice things to say on Saturday night at the Big 3 in Fresco, Texas.

“I think it’s great. Jason is a really smart guy, and he did a good job in the G-League this year and is one of my favorite teammates. So, I’m happy for him.”

Terry and Brewer were teammates with the Dallas Mavericks, who won a championship in 2011. They were also teammates in Houston with the Rockets as well.
