High-Level Players Want To Play With Knicks, Says NBA Analyst

Since the Portland Trail Blazers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, many rumors involving Damian Lillard, including a recent report of the All-Star guard, gave the Blazers an ultimatum referencing wanting another All-Star in Portland.

Other rumors have been reported, including one by Ian Begley of SNY that the Knick have been monitoring the Blazers and Lillard situation.

“members of the Knicks organization have been doing homework/prep work on the possibility of Lillard becoming available via trade, per sources.”

Last week, NBA TV’s Brendan Haywood was on Instagram Live with Scott O’Gallagher, a Creative Director at EA SPORTS. During their chat, Haywood shared that there was a possibility that two stars could play together.

“I know for a fact two high-level stars have talked to each other about possibly in New York. I know that for a fact. I don’t if it will come or if it will happen,” said Haywood.

“New York Knicks Fans have the right to be excited because high-level players are exactly talking about going to New York. “High-level players like two top 15 guys. Times are changing.”

Haywood did not reveal the names, but I reported last week that there had been talks around the league that Lillard and Kawhi Leonard could team up in New York.

Both have also been linked to the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat. According to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, The Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks are the biggest threats to lure Leonard out of Los Angeles. While the Miami Herald explored how the Heat could land either Lillard, CJ McCollum, or Ben Simmons this off-season.

Of course, everything depends on Leonard’s Knee injury and if Portland can strike a deal to keep their All-Star in a Blazers uniform.
