History repeats itself once again.
When Aaron Judge tied Roger Maris to his 61st home run last month, Fox Sports reporter Sara Walsh tweeted that her husband and Blue Jays coach Matt Buschmann caught the ball after he landed in the Toronto bullpen.
On Tuesday, Judge broke the tie to establish the AL Home Run record in a season with no. 62 against the Texas Rangers. Bri Amaranthus then tweeted the following about her husband.
THIS IS MY HUSBAND.
The man in the video is Corey Youmans. He was escorted away by security at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
When asked what he’ll do with the ball, he replied, “Good question. I haven’t thought about it.”
According to the New York Post, Judge’s 62nd home run is worth $2 million, at least. JP Cohen, the president of Memory Lane, made that offer before it was even hit. It remains to be seen what the ball could get from an open auction if this is the path Youmans chooses to pursue.
Amaranthus is an SI reporter that covers the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys. She was previously an NBC Sports Northwest host and journalist, and participated in the 22nd season of “The Bachelor” in 2018.
As for the Yankees, they went on to lose to the Rangers 3-2.
