The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels have the internet picking sides. There’s rumors flying that the two will go one on one at some point in the future. Reported by Joe Peisich on the Barnburner’s No Holds Barred podcast, The Deadman could be calling it a career at WrestleMania 35. The WWE higher ups, however are strongly considering giving “The Deadman” the Hall of Fame call for induction two days before Wrestlemania. (h/t Ringside News)
“It looks like The Undertaker will be from what I heard retiring officially at WrestleMania this year and going into the Hall Of Fame 2 nights before WrestleMania.”
Last week, Shawn Micheals and The Undertaker were in opposite corners as a part of a tag team match at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. The match would end with Michaels and Triple H defeating The Undertaker and Kane.
Another report claims that Michaels and The Undertaker could possibly face each other in two weeks at Survivor Series.If the WWE decides to book this match, it would be a great Main Event for the already stacked Pay Per View. It would also be special because The Undertaker made his WWE debut 28 years ago at Survivor Series. The Deadman would tag with “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, and Rhythm and Blues against the Hart Foundation, Dusty Rhodes and Koko B. Ware. DiBiase would go on to secure the victory for his team being the last man standing.
A year later, The Phenom would defeat Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan to capture his first WWE Championship at Survivor Series. The Undertaker was known for a streak at WrestleMania that lasted 21 years, before it was ended by Brook Lensar at WrestleMania XXX in 2014. The streak started back in 1991 against the late Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka.
In 2006, Hall of Famer “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry would take on “The Deadman” in a Casket Match, which ended with The Undertaker securing his 14th victory at WrestleMania 22.
“I would’ve loved to put the Undertaker in the coffin in WrestleMania 22,” Mark Henry told Brandon Robinson
“But that wasn’t gonna happen, cause I never thought the streak was gonna be broken.”
“But, nonetheless, to have a main event in WrestleMania is really damn special and I still hold that up there with every match-up I had.”
Henry added:
“He’s a legend.”
If WWE decides to book the Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker match at Wrestlemania 35, that would be the ultimate send off. These two legends have had some rememberable matches on the grandest stage of them all against one another. They would face off against each other at WrestleMania XXV and WrestleMania XXVI, which resulted in The Phenom going back to back and retiring Michaels in the process.
