Chen was able to reach the final of the USTA Girls’ 18 Nationals to earn a spot to qualify for the US Open.
Some other top seeds to advance was number 2 ranked on the men’s side Denis Shapovalov in two close matches ending 6-3, 6-4 winner over Denis, Kudla. Fourth ranked Ukraine’s Sergiy Stakhovsky after drop three games to Alexy Vatutin of Russia. On the women’s side the sixth seeded Kateryna Bondarenko, need a little over an hour to finish off Silvia Soler-Espinosa from Spain.
