TJ Kidd To Host Classic Celebrity Basketball Game On August 20th In Conjunction With Help Cure HD

TJ Kidd, the son of Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, will host his first annual Classic Celebrity Basketball Game. The event will be in conjunction with TNT’s Allie LaForce & MLB pitcher Joe Smith, representing Help Cure HD Foundation. The event will take place on August 20th at Santa Monica College.
According to the foundation’s website, the Help Cure HD Foundation focuses on Huntington’s disease, a hereditary brain disorder, and over 30,000 people suffer from this disease alone in the US. The foundation was inspired by Joe Smith’s mother, Lee Smith, who was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease in 2012.
Kidd was recently on an Instagram Live with Bovada’s Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson to discuss the upcoming event.
“So, we are raising money for this amazing charity, Help Cure HD, and they work with people who are suffering from Huntington’s disease. They raise money for people to get these IVF treatments to help eradicate from the family line,” said Kidd.
Former Los Angeles Lakers guard and coach Byron Scott will be one of the people coaching one side of the court. Some people playing in the charity game will be former Rams running back Eric Dickerson, Kellee Stewart, Royce Clayton, Allie LaForce, Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, and more.
The complete list of people that will be at the event is below.
Kidd did reveal on IG Live that he will indeed be playing in the charity game.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Kidd said.
He also revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers, Nike, and Jeff Hamilton, to name a few, would all be sponsoring the event.
