Tim Duncan And Kevin Durant Praised By WNBA Legend Lauren Jackson

Currie shared that WNBA legend Lauren Jackson was Kevin Durant before KD came along. The two have a lot in common, including Finals MVPs, regular season MVPs, drafted by Seattle based sports teams, and will be future Hall of Famers one day.
“So, Yo was a little bit before my time, or at least I didn’t play against her. In the last room I was in, I said Diana Taurasi was the greatest WNBA player of all time, but Lauren, she might be the greatest WNBA player of all time. If it weren’t for injuries, I think her impact would have been even greater. I remember playing her one year, and I think she had 40 against the Mystics; she was incredible,” said Currie.
“She did not miss; she rebounded, hit pull-ups, and did everything. You just watched her with amazement; she what 6’5, 6’6? And she was like a KD before there was a KD. She is definitely one of the most exciting players to watch. She also had this I don’t give an F attitude. Australians are pretty tough, and they don’t take a lot of s***, and she was not afraid to get into people’s faces and dominant. She was a dominant player.”
Jackson sees some similarities between her game and the Brooklyn Nets forward.
“Yeah, I think so. We both were stretch bigs that could shoot. We both could play under the rim and in the post,” said Jackson.
“I think there are definitely some similarities, and it isn’t easy to compare men and women. I think if there were a female and male comparison, it would be similar. I can also see a comparison to Tim Duncan as well, possibly.”
Jackson’s former teammate, Sue Bird sees her as a stretch-five.
“Tina Thompson is arguably the first, stretch-four, I think Lauren [Jackson] is the first, stretch-five. Just a player, who totally changed how to play that position. A player that could hurt you from the outside, demanded double-teams on the block every single night,” said Bird.
“You don’t see that; obviously, you see it with the [Las] Vegas [Aces], but you don’t really see it that often with a player that demands that, but had the outside game to complement, and obviously what she did defensively.”
Jackson is a finalist for the 2021 Hall of Fame Class, which will be announced on Sunday at 11:30 am EST. The 2021 Hall of Fame will take place later this year in Connecticut.
Lauren Jackson averaged 18.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in 317 games.
