The Coolest Part of 2K21, Was My Involvement In The Playlist, Says Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard is one of the cover athletes featured on NBA 2K21. The other cover athletes are rookie sensation Zion Williamson, James Harden, and the late Kobe Bryant.
“To be on the cover alone is a big deal to me, but to be on the cover and also have my music be a part of the game is a huge accomplishment as well,” said Damian Lillard, NBA superstar, and cover athlete for NBA 2K21 on current-gen platforms. “Personally, I’ve been introduced to new artists, songs and genres that I might hear on the radio, but I heard it first on NBA 2K.”
Other artists who will join Lillard on the soundtrack are Roddy Ricch, The Strokes, Stormzy, Ro$$ Mac, deceased artists Juice WRLD, and Pop Smoke, to name a few. According to Forbes.com’s Brian Mazique, the soundtrack contains 52 tracks and will be updated.
Lillard was recently on What’s in Your Glass with his Blazer teammate Carmelo Anthony. The two discussed various topics, including Lillard’s role as a cover athlete and his involvement in the upcoming NBA video game.
“When I first got with 2K maybe three or four years ago, and they started to include me. I did China cover of the game and then the game in the US, I was on the back of the back cover will have some action on the back of the game or whatever,” said Lillard.
“That’s a process of you being involved with the whole situation. Then they invite you to the event where they launch the game. They will ask you to do stuff like that.
So, I’ve been into it for three or four years, and this year, they were like, “I’m going to be the cover athlete.” It was cool because they asked what picture you would want to use. After all, we don’t want it to be a still shoot; we would like it to be some action. The one they chose was from my second year in the dunk contest. I wanted one where I was celebrating. It ended up being cool, the one they chose.
Lillard scored 61 points against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night, helping the Blazers take a half-game lead over the Grizzlies and the Suns for the final playoff spot in the West. The Blazers have one more game against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday before having to play a play-in game.
