“Selling Sunset” Season 8 Faces Major Backlash as Cast Member Amanda Lynn’s Alleged Tweets Resurface

The upcoming season of Selling Sunset is again embroiled in controversy, this time around new cast member Amanda Lynn. A TikTok video that was allegedly racist tweets from Amanda dating back to 2012 and 2013 has surfaced just days before the premiere of the eighth season, which is highly anticipated. Social media has been shocked by the revelations, leading to increased criticism of the Netflix reality show.
Stephanie with Dadeets posted a video with screenshots of the alleged tweets Amanda re-tweeted that featured the n-word. In one of the posts, Amanda seems to have re-shared a quote from another user that contained a racial slur, while a third tweet reportedly included a racist remark. Amanda’s Twitter profile has since been made private, but the damage was already done as the video gained rapid traction online.
“The newbie is Amanda Lynn. She’s also a real estate agent and she also has a racist past,” the TikTok user explained in her video. “Someone sent me these old tweets that are from Amanda Lynn. And Amanda Lynn has used the n-word multiple times.”
The video quickly went viral, generating significant attention on multiple social platforms. Chelsea Lazkani, who starred in Selling Sunset, was among those who responded to the shocking revelation by reposting the video on her profile without commenting. Soon after, Chelsea, 31, posted cryptic and emotional messages, hinting at her dissatisfaction with certain cast members and suggesting that more behind-the-scenes truths would be revealed soon.
“I’ll tell you all the truth about the cast this season so you can make a decision on who to support,” Chelsea wrote in one of her posts. “Most of you have been blind for so long and I’m sorry I didn’t before. I wanted to keep the peace to avoid being bashed or seen as jealous.”
She continued: “But really and truly WHY would I need to be jealous of anyone, let alone women who do not look like me. I am my own mirror in the office and I’ve held my own since DAY 1. I fear no b*tch.”
Chelsea’s posts triggered a discussion online, with users on Reddit and X (formerly known as Twitter) expressing their displeasure at Netflix for not conducting thorough background checks on its cast members. Several show fans were unsure how these tweets could have made it through the vetting process, while others demanded Amanda’s immediate dismissal from the series.
This controversy significantly blows Selling Sunset just days before the new season’s release in September. Amanda’s role in the upcoming episodes seems to be the most important, with the Season 8 trailer suggesting that she will play a crucial role in generating drama by gossiping about Chelsea’s husband to Bre Tiesi. Amanda and the show’s producers call for accountability and transparency as the resurfaced tweets overshadow her involvement.
Netflix has yet to make an official statement on the resurfaced tweets or whether any action will be taken as the backlash grows. Meanwhile, the show’s fans are still grappling with the latest scandal, wondering how this controversy will affect the series in the future.
Selling Sunset’s high drama and glamorous real estate dealings are already well-known, but this latest controversy adds tension to an already volatile new season. While we don’t know if the cast and production team will address the issue, it’s clear that Season 8 will be more dramatic than ever.
