The Seattle Seahawks re-signed linebacker Drake Thomas to a two-year deal worth $8 million, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Per Raporport, the deal has the potential to increase to $9 million based on contract incentives, and the deal got done before free agency began a now it is official. Thomas emerged as a key playmaker during the Seahawks’ Super Bowl win in 2025.

“The organization, my teammates, the coaches, this is where I wanted to be,” Thomas said after signing his contract. “So to be able to sign back here and lock this in, it means the world to me.”

Thomas spent the last three seasons in Seattle after being undrafted out of North Carolina State and initially signing with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023. The Seahawks would claim Thomas off waivers before the start of the 2023 season.

He would make the team and earn his keep by appearing in 24 games primarily on special teams during his first two seasons. However, in 2025, Thomas would become a starter in Seattle and go on to start 14 of 17 games, becoming one of their top playmakers on defense. With 89 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery, he finished second on the team in total tackles and tackles for loss, and also ranked fourth in passes defended (8).

“I’m so excited,” Thomas said of what the Seahawks defense can do moving forward. “I feel like we can just keep on ascending and getting better, so to be a part of that again, it’s super exciting.”

Thomas, Ernest Jones IV, and Tyrice Knight have signed multi-year contracts, giving the Seattle Seahawks a reliable foundation and continuity at inside linebacker for 2026 and beyond. The Seahawks will also be returning most of their starters on defense during the Super Bowl run, which includes Thomas and cornerback Josh Jobe, who both agreed to return next season.
