Cheddar Bob’s life took a difficult turn at a young age due to his experience of adversity.

“I jumped off the porch at 12 years old,” he revealed, Talking about his entry into street life. His struggles go back even further. “Crack cocaine led me to the streets because my mom laced her weed with it,” he shared. By the age of seven, he was introduced to smoking “50 ones,”An introduction to a cycle of substance abuse that would last for decades. The fact that he was exposed to drugs early wasn’t his choice, but the result of a turbulent home life.

Turning Adversity into a Legacy

Despite his challenging beginning, Cheddar Bob’s story is not one of defeat. At 41, he is the father of ten children and also a grandfather. He is proud to say that none of his children have succumbed to addiction.

“What we got—college degrees, I got a grandbaby—all that,” he said, pointing out how he has eliminated the cycle of substance abuse in his family.

When asked why he chose to be on the streets instead of staying at home with his kids, his honest and raw response was both raw and truthful. “Money. The money.” Financial desperation, like many others, led him to a lifestyle that was full of danger and difficulty.
