Nancy Lieberman On Lauren Jackson & Yolanda Griffith Joining The Hall Of Fame Next Month

Next month, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame will induct the 2021 class, including Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Chris Webber, Lauren Jackson, and Yolanda Griffith.
Griffith and Jackson are both WNBA Championships, Olympians, and pioneers in women’s basketball. They are also two women that Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman is proud of for their latest accomplishment, and she shared as much during the Big 3’s appearance in Dallas earlier this month.
“I’m thrilled for both of them. I have known them; it seems like 100 years. Lauren is one of the most complete players in the game’s history and revolutionized what it means to be a big. As a matter of fact, I played against her mother, Maree Jackson, in the 1976 Olympics, and Yolanda, I mean she is like Kevin Garnett. She blocks shots, runs the floor, and all she did was win. Two of the greatest players our game has ever seen, and I’m really happy for them,” said Lieberman.
Lieberman also discussed the comparison between Jackson and Kevin Durant.
“I think they are different types of players. Lauren was very physical and very savvy. Certainly, she had the range from the perimeter; they are both winners and great players, Lieberman shared.
Earlier this year, Jackson revealed that she sees some similarities between her and Durant.
“Yeah, I think so. We both were stretch bigs that could shoot. We both could play under the rim and in the post,” said Jackson.
“I think there are definitely some similarities, and it isn’t easy to compare men and women. I think if there were a female and male comparison, it would be similar. I can also see a comparison to Tim Duncan as well, possibly.”
