Michael Rainey Jr. Reveals Power Book II Ghost Has Been Renewed For Season 3

Earlier this month, Power Book III: Raising Kanan was announced that it was greenlit for season two. Unfortunately, the announcement came before it even premiered on July 18th, according to Deadline’s Denise Petski.
“One season isn’t enough to tell the coming-of-age story of Kanan Stark and his mother, Raq, a fierce and successful woman who is a force of nature,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO of Starz. “The anticipation globally for more of the Power Universe made it clear that the Kanan story needs to continue.”
Recently, Michael Rainey Jr was on Instagram Live answering questions when one of his viewers trolled him. Rainey is the lead actor in Power Book II Ghost, a spinoff of the original Power.
Rainey shared, “N*** so did we, last year and we are already renewed for season 3. So, what do you want me to do with that information. That is not useful. As soon as we are done with [season 2] two more months of break and we back filming season three, while y’all watching season 2.”
“So, they can get renewed, but we are going to get renewed as well. Come on baby!”
Rainey also recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly and shared some things that we can expect heading into season two. First, as of July 8th, they were finishing episode six of season two.
In that interview with EW, Rainey shared that Tariq feels more alone than ever, despite being in business with the Tejada family. In the season finale of season one, he sent his mother [Tasha St. Patrick or Green] away into witness protection to protect her from Tommy Egan. Tasha was scheduled to testify for the government against Egan, whom she named the drug kingpin.
“Oh no, he’s definitely feeling alone because he can’t trust anybody, especially not the Tejada family. They’re in business with each other, so it’s a different type of trust. So at the beginning of season two, he’s more alone than ever, and he’s trying to figure it out. He still has his people around him; he just doesn’t have anyone to put all his trust in,” said Rainey.
According to IMDB, season two of Power Book II Ghost is slated to premiere on November 7, 2021.
