Mary J. Blige Details How Her Idea For Queen Pin Character Turned In Monet Tejada On Ghost

This week on “The Crew Has It” Podcast with Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo, they had Mary J. Blige, who plays Monet Tejada. During the episode, they talked about the process of her landing the role of Monet in Ghost.
“I’ve been a fan of power period just from day one, and I always wanted to meet Courtney. I knew 50, and so when I had the meeting with Courtney and 50, it was about some things I had in the works own production company,” said Blige.
“And [I had] some ideas I had and then that was an idea I had was for a character like that. I started talking about the character, and Courtney went to writing. The whole team was like; it would be cool if there could be a queen pin like that one on power on ghost and I was like uh you know say less.”
She added, “Well, there was a character that we were speaking about and dreaming about, and it’s a character that I knew. So, I was telling Courtney at 50 some of my female drug dealer stories that I still know to this day, like walking out my building and there so and so, when they have the furs, and they have the cars, and they have the husbands that are in prison or dead. So, I know this woman very well to this day, and Courtney went to writing as I told her the story to her and 50, and then Monet was born.”
Speaking of Mary J. Blige, she and Fabolous release the music video to their single ‘Come See About Me.’
Power Book II: Ghost season 3 is slated to premiere later this year.
