Luka Doncic’s Command On Team Major Difference In Year Three Compared To Rookie Season, Says EX-Teammate

The Dallas Mavericks are 28-22 and currently in seventh place in the Western Conference. Their two-time All-Star Luka Doncic is a big reason why, he is averaging 28.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 8.7 assists.
Former Dallas Mavericks guard Devin Harris played with Doncic during the 2018-19 season, which was also his rookie season. Harris recently shared that he sees a difference in Doncic’s command of the team in year three compared to his rookie season.
“For Luka, it is his command on the team. When we had him as a rookie he was still trying to figure things out and wanted more responsibility. Obviously, he took on that responsibility and did well with it. Now, that he is starting to get more attention such as All- NBAs and MVP quality type of player. Teams are really keying in on you and you are expected to play at that level all the time, ” said Harris.
“Obvisiously, he has kind of struggled, and I say that mildly because he is still averaging 27 points, six rebounds, and eight or whatever it is. So, he is still a top-tier player, but it’s his command on the game and will on the team.”
Harris is currently an NBA analyst with Bally Sports Southwest and has not officially retired from the NBA. He still has hope of getting another opportunity to play in the league at some point.
There is no question, who is the leader of this Dallas Mavericks team, its Luka Doncic.
“Luka Doncic is our leader,” Carlisle said earlier this season. “There is no question about that.”
“There are certain players who have a certain leadership personality,” Carlisle said. “They have a charisma and magnetism. He [Luka Doncic] has that and that is no secret. Each year he becomes more and more that guy.”
The Mavericks are hosting the Milwaukee Bucks and are currently trailing 56-55 at the half-time and when this article was released. They hope to bounce back from the last night’102-93 lost on the road to the Houston Rockets.
