Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis Could be Explosive for Next 15 Years, Says EX-Knick

Luka Doncic was having an MVP type season in just his second season for the Dallas Mavericks before the NBA suspended the season due to Rudy Gobert testing positive for the COVID-19 virus that has caused everyone all over the world into social distancing. Doncic was averaging 28.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 8.7 assists in 54 games this season.
Earlier this season, Thunder guard Chris Paul shared that he believed Doncic should be in the MVP conversation. “Absolutely, it’s warranted,” said Paul.
“I think the coolest things when you see a really good player, see how their teammates are around them. And you see he has the respect from his teammates, so they want to give him the ball, and they want him to screen for him, and they like playing with him. So, that’s bigger than the numbers.”
While Luka’s running mate Kristaps Porzingis came on strong and was starting to find his rhythm in the Maverick system before the season came to a halt. Porzingis has averaged 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists this season, which is a career-high in all of those categories. Porzingis has been in and out of the lineup to a couple of minor injuries but has been able to play in 51 games this season.
Both Doncic and Porzingis have caught the attention of NBA legend Jamal Crawford, who is still available on the free-agent market. Recently shared that he could see Doncic and Porzingis being together for the next ten to fifteen years .
“I think [the combination] can be explosive and they can grow together for the next ten to fifteen years. Obviously, I’m a huge fan of Luka [Doncic] the way plays, the style he plays, and the coolness that he displays on the basketball court,” said Crawford. “Not only does he get stuff done out there to win, he is exciting to watch.”
Crawford then shared his stance on Porzingis starting to find his niche as the number two option before the season was suspended.
“I think it takes a little time to get used to new surroundings and get comfortable. Once you get your groove and hit the groove with the team, you see how you can really grow there. I think Porzingis was starting to hit that,” Crawford said. “Obviously, it is a pause in the season now, but hopefully, when they get back, he can pick up where he left off.”
The Dallas Mavericks are current the seventh seed in the west with a 40-27 record and if the playoffs started today they would be facing the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.
