Jay Carnage breaks through with grit and groove on debut track ‘'The Vid’
“The Vid,” the debut single by the new artist Jay Carnage, is a moment of defiance, creativity and long-kept passion finally being let loose. Jay Carnage’s story does not follow the usual pathway of the rising artist. In the record business he did not take the standard path to fame, or plan a splashy arrival on the music scene.
“The Vid,” came out of a situation few saw coming, a weeklong struggle with COVID-19. While in isolation, Jay found that he had a rare commodity: time. And he used that time to write not only lyrics but the entire soundtrack of the track. This is a one-man project from beat to bar, making the release even more remarkable.

“The Vid” isn’t enshrined in flashy production or engineered hooks. It’s raw in the way that truth itself sometimes is honest, unfiltered and, for some reason, almost too addictive. You can hear the isolation but also the determination in each verse. There’s a gritty authenticity to it, part confessional, part declaration, that speaks to anyone who’s ever felt confined between what they’re supposed to do and what they want to do.
Jay Carnage did this during illness and it's his first release. It’s all real and there’s no filter, no industry gloss, this is just someone who has always had a love of music and getting around to sharing it with the world. Since dropping that debut, Jay has been building his discography with little fanfare, uploading another pair of tracks to his SoundCloud and working on music impromptu, in between real life.
Everything There is to Like (or Dislike) I think you struck a cord with your post and it's refreshing to hear something that's just plain honest. It is the genuine first step for someone who never really stopped wanting to make music. Sometimes, that’s all it takes to make a connection. Jay Carnage is just getting started, but if a debut is of any indication, he’s definitely got something to listen to and much more to say.
