Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban was recently a guest with Ben & Skin on 105.3 The Fan. During the show, Cuban was asked about how long the Mavericks and Knicks have been in communication regarding the trade deal that brought Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee, and Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas in exchange for Dennis Smith Jr., Wesley Matthews, DeAndre Jordan, and a couple of first round draft picks.

Cuban stated that “We told them (Knicks) in the past if they were ever looking to trade Porzingis we would be interested. That afternoon they called back and said we are and we said what’s the deal, and we basically said okay. Then we a couple of little things to talk about in terms to other players and we worked through those other things to make the salary cap stuff work then it was a deal. Literally in total talking time, maybe an hour, said Cuban.

The trade talks happen the day after former Mavericks’ guard Dennis Smith Jr. recorded a triple-double in The Garden the night before.

As for Portzingis possibly playing this season, Mark Cuban spoke with ESPN and said: “Kristaps Porzingis will probably not play for the Dallas Mavericks this season.”

Portzingis is currently recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee, which he suffered last season.

Cuban stated that Kristaps Porzingis and his team put togethe威而鋼
r a specific schedule and the Mavericks are willing to stick with it and get him 犀利士
ready for next season. This will not affect whether the team resigns him or not Cuban confirmed that to Ben & Skin.  They expect Porzingis to be here for a long time.

Later during the interview, Cuban was asked if it was starting to feel like a goodbye tour for Nowitzki?

“Yeah, it is,” Cuban told Ben & Skin.

Skin followed that question with what Cuban thought Dirk would want to do moving forward?

“We haven’t discussed it. He’s trying to decide if he’s going to take some time off or not,” Cuban said. “But he can do whatever he wants. He’s earned it. I don’t care. Whatever he wants to do, Dirk can do … the answer’s yes.”

Dirk has not confirmed himself if this will be his last season, but being around the team it feels like it will be, but we will have to wait until Dirk confirms that he will play next season or tells us it’s time for him to hang it up.
