Grizzlies Tayshaun Prince Praises Both Ja Morant & Grizzlies Coaching Staff, “They Are Putting Him In Great Position To Succeed”

The Memphis Grizzlies are currently 4-3 in the young season. Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant has averaged 33.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists through seven games. He is also shooting 55.0 percent from the field and 56.0 from behind the arch.
Earlier this month Ja Morant was on NBA Today with Malika Andrews shared that his goal is to win MVP this year as part of his contributions to lead the Grizzlies to a championship this season.
” MVP, for sure. I’m not a big individual goal guy, but that’s one I definitely can say like I feel like that’s everybody’s goal in the league,” said Morant.
“It starts with winning and secondly being out there on the floor and not missing games. Those are the two top things for me. I feel like as long as I’m doing those two things, I’m definitely in the category of winning MVP.”
Morant play thus far this season has not gone unnoticed by others around the league.
In a recent interview, Tayshaun Prince, Vice President of Basketball Affairs with Memphis, asked about Morant’s play thus far.
“Playing great basketball, we got bodies down right now, and he’s trying to will us to win, which he has done to this point. His hard work is paying off on the court, and playing great basketball, our guys are following his lead, and he instilled confidence into our guys,” said Prince.
“You can see our other guys and young guys are making plays. We got young guys making shots and it all because of his [Ja Morant’s] ability to lead. The coaching staff is putting him in a great position to succeed.”
De’Aaron Fox was also asked about Morant after the Kings faced the Grizzlies.
“He’s probably the frontrunner for the MVP right now, so you’re getting compared to someone like that,” Fox said. “At the end of the day, you have to win games and that’s pretty much all I’m worried about. He’s done that, been to the playoffs twice in his young career, so hats off to that, and that’s somewhere I’m trying to get this organization.”
Luka Doncic shared that he is a complete player.
S***! H can do everything. One of the fastest guy out there shooting, playmaking, really complete player.”
With coach Jason Kidd sharing that Morant is special. “He’s special, and he puts pressure on your defensive. All Eyes will be on him, and we have to figure out how to slow him down. He was an All-Star & talked about winning MVP.”
Last season for the Grizzlies, Morant was able to win the Most Improved Player Award despite his thinking the award, but elected to give it to his teammate Desmond Bane.
Memphis heads to Portland to take on the Trailblazers on Wednesday night.
