Grizzlies’ Ja Morant Dubs Himself The New “Black Jesus’ After Tipping Waitress $500

A video of Ja Morant giving a $500 tip to a waitress goes viral on Twitter. The video was shared by Shot By Nie, followed by Overtime.
In the video Morant class himself ‘Black Jesus,’ which something many in the NBA community called Michael Jordan throughout his playing career. While working out with the Philadelphia 76ers, the late Kobe Bryant asked the staff what it was like playing Michael Jordan. The staff responded, “Oh you mean Black Jesus?”
Bryant replied, “What the f**k?! Who?! Imma call him f**king Mike!”
Another former players who has used the phrase ‘Black Jesus’ was Reggie Miller.
When Miller was a younger in the league he made the mistake of talking trash to MJ
“‘You’re Michael Jordan, the guy who walks on water?’” Miller recalled saying to Jordan — with a laugh after all these years.
“Second half, I ended up with two points. He ended up with a lot more,” he continued.
His Airness replied, “Don’t ever talk trash to Black Jesus.”
As for Morant, he was the Memphis Grizzlies’ second pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, and last season he made his first career trip to the All-Star Game.
He also led the Grizzlies to second spot in the Western Conference and won his first career playoff series.
The Golden State Warriors defeated them in six games’ second round of the NBA playoffs.
Morant was injured at the end of the third game and did not compete in the last three games of the series.
This offseason, ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Morant re-signed with the Grizzlies on a 5-year agreement.
