The Dallas Mavericks were able to tie their series at 2-2 with the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon after beat the Suns 111-101. The Mavericks were led by Luka Doncic with 26 points, seven rounds, and 11 assists in 37 minute.
Doncic in his postgame press confession share that their defense won them game three and four.
“Our defense won us these to games,” said Doncic. “It’s not a statement game. We just played the way we play.”
adding that they didn’t want to go down 3-1 heading back to Phoenix.
Dorian Finney Smith added 24 points, eight rebounds, and an assists in 38 minutes.
After the game, Smith talked about being one three shy from former Maverick guard Jason Terry playoff record.
“It feels good to be in that company,” said Smith.
He was also asked about wearing down Chris Paul, who fouled out.
“Just make him tired. He’s up in age. Just use it against him.”
As for Paul, he fouled out with only five points, five rebounds, and seven assists in 23 minutes.
However, whatever is talking about is the altercation involving his mother and wife, who a couple of Maverick fans put their hands on towards the end of the game.
The two fans were later ejected from the game, and as they were being removed, Chris Paul could be heard saying, “Hey! Hey, I’ll see you later! I’ll see you later!”
After the game, Paul tweeted about the incident.
“Wanna fine players for saying stuff to the fans but the fans can put they hands on our families….f*** that!!”
According to TNT’s Allie LaForce, the Mavericks are aware of the incident involving Paul’s family.
“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident between a fan and the family of Chris Paul. It was unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated. The Mavericks, along with American Airlines Center, swiftly removed the fan from today’s game.”
During their post-game coverage, the Inside the NBA crew reacted to what happen.
” Away to prevent that is remember we all come from the same place and we all have cousins and come to a hostile arena. One of your cousins not doing anything you got one job to do watch my wife, what my kids, and watch my momma,” said Shaq.
“If anyone gets out of line you have my permission to touch them up, point blank period. Fans don’t know how to act sometimes and things like this happens. You can’t expect our wives and our mother to enjoy the games and people bullying them.”
“The fans are great, but there are going to be one or two, or five are liquored up and going to want to insult people… You are not supposed to put your hands on anybody. I don’t know what happened. When go into a hostile environment their always going to be some liquored up fans,” said Barkley.
“Just give me five minutes at center court with them. Your not going to press any charges, and nobody going to be sued civilly. Say what you just said to me to my face for these five minutes and I’m going beat the hell out of you.”
Suns and Mavericks play again on Tuesday back in Phoenix for game five with the series tied 2-2. The game will be on TNT at 10 pm EST.
