According to Donta Rose, who is only 28 years old, giving back to your community can be impactful and transformative. In his hometown of North Philadelphia, a $5 million Grocery Outlet was unveiled with a grand opening.

Rose has turned a long-standing dream into a reality, creating a business and a symbol of hope and revitalizing the neighborhood he calls home. The new Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) Sharswood Ridge development has its first business opening, aimed at rejuvenating the area with mode. The project aims to rejuvenate essential resources. The project is deeply personal for Rose.
“That’s where we’re from,” Rose shared with The Inquirer. “I know the neighborhood. It became really important for me to be in a community that we’re familiar with.”

From Engineering to Entrepreneurship

The Grocery Outlet offers fresh and affordable groceries in an area that has been underserved for years. The store’s impact goes beyond its shelves and aisles: It creates jobs. Rose is committed to hiring local staff and offering employment opportunities to those who most need them.

A Family Effort

From the start, Rose has considered this project a family affair. From beginning to end, his parents and siblings have been by his side, offering support and guidance as he made his dream a reality.

“My mom is going to be with me. My dad is helping with the opening, and my sisters are by my side,” Rose said. “This wouldn’t have been possible without my family.”

Revitalizing North Philadelphia

Rose’s $5 million investment is more than just a grocery store; it’s a foundation for the Sharswood Ridge development and a step towards revitalizing North Philadelphia. Rose’s decision to plant roots in his old neighborhood conveys that the potential for change lies within the community.

Looking Ahead

Rose remains committed to his business and community growth as he opens his Grocery Outlet. Rose’s goal is to inspire others to follow in his footsteps with his plans to expand his entrepreneurial ventures. The power of perseverance, community support, and a vision for a brighter future can be seen in his story. At the age of 28, Donta Rose is opening a store and building a legacy.

This one is a beacon of hope for North Philadelphia compared to other grocery stores. Rose’s leadership will open endless possibilities for the community’s future.
