Derrick Rose, “He Is Balling, “ Says Shawn Marion

Derrick Rose has been balling all season long for the Minnesota Timberwolves to the tune of averaging 18 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and a high of 85.6 from the free throw line off the bench Per Basketball-Reference.com. Unfortunately for Rose the overall team, this season hasn’t lived up to their playoff standard from a year ago. The start of the season did not go the way the organization envisioned as there was some infighting between former Timberwolves guard Jimmy Butler and Andrew Wiggins that spilled over into social media and an alleged off the court situation with Karl Anthony Towns.
Eventually, it became unbearable, and Jimmy Butler& Justin Patton would be traded to the Sixers in exchange for Jerryd Bayless, Robert Covington, Dario Šarić and a 2022 second-round draft pick. Jim Butler is averaging career highs across the board with 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, four assists, and 85 percent for the free throw line. The Sixers, on the other hand, are currently the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 45-25.
Recently before the Mavericks faced the New Orleans Pelicans in Dallas, former Maverick Shawn Marion was in the build to see his former teammate Dirk Nowitzki make history as he passed Wilt Chamberlain for sixth All-Time on the All-Time scoring list. Before the game, Marion was being interviewed by serval members of the media. The Chicago native is very familiar with fellow Chi-Town native Derrick Rose. So, during the media scrum, I asked Marion what were his thoughts on Rose resurgence this season.
“ That’s my boy he is from Chicago, but Derrick was playing great last year up until the little hiatus or whatever. He was averaging 15 or 16 points a game. Derrick is averaging 18 coming off the bench in Minnesota and don’t it twisted he has been playing really good. He is not playing like the D Rose of old because it is not the same kind of minutes and some role for him different team and different situation for him. He is balling and is back healthy, so what else do I need to say,“ says the future Hall of Famer.
The 15-year veteran averaged 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists during his time in the NBA. Marion will be one of the players hoping to hear his name called later this year for Hall of Fame invitations as part of the 2019 Class.
As for the Mavericks, they lost in overall time 129-125 against the Pelicans.
