“I think he was always supposed to be the sacrificial lamb. His name is Cross [and] Ezekiel means God will strengthen. Ezekiel’s role in the literature was to go and transform the savages,” said Bellomy.
“Somehow, I felt he would be hung on the cross somewhere. Not literally, but I thought it and didn’t know how it would happen. So, him going up those steps were beautifully done by the creative team.”
If you are unfamiliar with what Bellomy is talking about his step father Lorenzo Tejada ended up killing Zeke Cross thinking he was Mecca. Lorenzo’s wife Monet Tejada did let him in on the whole plan to kill Mecca at his condo. Lorenzo didn’t want Mecca to make out of town on his private plane and get away.
“Mecca. Where the f***you think you’re going, mother f****? ” Said Lorenzo.
It was later reported that Mecca was dead on the news, but not in the location that Lorenzo was at. Monet asked if anyone had heard from Zeke, which they denied and then she received a phone call from Detective Kevin Whitman. Informing her that her son had passed away.
