Charlotte Flair Opens Up About Injury Challenges and WWE Comeback
In an Instagram Live session on Thursday morning, Charlotte Flair revealed her training routine to her fans. She shared her thoughts on the obstacles to returning to the ring after tearing her ACL, MCL, and meniscus in 2023.
Charlotte Flair suffered from injury while competing in the Friday Tribute To The Troops episode of SmackDown from Providence, Rhode Island.
Charlotte answered a fan's question about the most difficult aspect of her comeback, "The biggest challenge, I think just getting my confidence back, really. Yeah, just getting my confidence back and feeling like, I've never been gone that long since I debuted in 2015. So, for me, it was just a lot to be gone. It was the first year since 2015 that I haven't held a title. Isn't that crazy? 2024 was the first time."
Charlotte Flair suffered a knee injury while playing against Asuka. The injury resulted from her mistake while moving from the top rope.
Charlotte became emotional during the post-show press conference as she considered her injury and the impact of her return.
"I really don’t want to break down. This was the longest I’ve been away from you guys, the fans, since I started in 2012. I got into this business because of my little brother," she shared. "When my knee injury happened in December and it took me out, I just kept thinking, ‘I can’t go out this way,’ and it made me realize how far I’ve come, and I was doing it because of him."
She expresses gratitude for the support from fans during her recovery, noting how their encouragement kept her focused. While thinking about her return to the ring and her recent victory in the Royal Rumble, Charlotte stated, "As a performer, sometimes you feel like, ‘Do I still have it? What am I coming back to do? I’ve done it all.’ But coming back tonight and winning the Rumble two times, no, I’m coming back to do it all over again. That’s how hungry I am." She even shared a funny moment from her return, admitting, "A little secret, when I came out, I couldn’t get my robe off. I was like, ‘Good thing I remembered how to wrestle because I can’t get this robe off, it had been so long.’ It felt great.”
Charlotte's comeback and two-time Royal Rumble victory have put her in the running to reclaim a championship, and WWE is reportedly considering wrapping a title around her waist soon.
