Carmelo Anthony hasn’t suited up for an NBA team since last November for the Houston Rockets against the Oklahoma City Thunder. In his final game as a member of the Houston Rockets, Melo scored only two points and grabbed five rebounds finishing the game shooting one percent from the field.

About a week had passed before ESPN’s Woj reported that the Rockets and Melo have decided to go their separate ways.

“After much internal discussion, the Rockets will be parting ways with Carmelo Anthony and we are working toward a resolution,” Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said in a statement. “Carmelo had a tremendous approach during his time with the Rockets and accepted every role head coach Mike D’Antoni gave him. The fit we envisioned when Carmelo chose to sign with the Rockets has not materialized, therefore we thought it was best to move on as any other outcome would have been unfair to him.”

The Rockets would ship the 10-time All-star to the Chicago Bulls, but he wouldn’t play a single game for the franchise. He as immediately released allowing him to sign with any franchise he wanted to join.

For the longest time that seemed like the Los Angeles Lakers would be the likely choice for Carmelo because of his relationship with Lakers’ superstar LeBron James. Unfortunately, for Carmelo, that opportunity went up in smoke when LeBron went down with a groining injury. There were also mentions of possibly the Celtics and Warriors had interest due to the lack of depth in their second units, but nothing ever materialized.

Earlier this year Heavy’s Brandon Robinson spoke to Hall of Famer and part owner of the Atlanta Hawks Grant Hill about Carmelo Anthony. Hill stated that he didn’t think Carmelo at that point in the season would get picked up by a team. However, Hill did believe he would be on an NBA roster next season.

“I don’t think a team will bring him in at this point,” but I think next season a team will possibly bring him in,” said Grant.

King assistant coach Bobby Jackson and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban echoed Hill not playing this season due to Melo being absent all year.

“I think Carmelo’s game still adapts to today’s game, it just has to be the right situation,” Kings Assistant Coach Bobby Jackson told me. With Carmelo situation being that he is 15 or 16 seasons in will he be willing to take a back seat by coming off the bench and being a limited role player in that offense. I think that is the biggest question with Carmelo,” said Jackson.

“This late in the season, unless you are really ready and have a specific need even after All-Star break. There has to be a team that has a need for his specific talent, and he is A Hall of Famer, but like everyone else it’s it gotta be a fit,“ said Cuban.

Last week威而鋼
I spoke with one of Melo former music acts by the name of JAG to get his perspective on Melo’s off-court, as well as, his thoughts on him not playing since last November.

“Melo has a lot left in the tank, but the NBA is shaky. There is a lot of politics and Melo’s career is being joggled in the mix of that. He just happens to be one of those players that got caught up in the mix where coaches are hating and certain players might not agree with your style of play. Melo is going through the motions and I feel if he continues to work out and get better because he is a star. He can make is on somebody’s team it all about the proper role that he will come in initially,“ said JAG.

He would continue:

“He has to know he can earn that star role again and prove it to the fans an organization that he can be a team player. Carmelo is a competitor and If anyone knows Melo like know Melo, he wouldn’t be content with walking away from the game of basketball not on his own terms. So, I definitely he is going to have a shot to come back and prove he has a least two solid seasons left in him.“

JAG would also offer some insight into Melo’s character off the court.

“Carmelo Anthony is super down to earth off the court. A lot of NBA players that I know are down to earth and you have to remember many of them came from poverty. So, they have not let the life of a star take them out of their element and Melo was always straight forward with me.“

TMZ recently spoke with Anthony’s wife LaLa and asked if she expe威而鋼
cts to see Melo back in the league next season?

“Why wouldn’t we?” Lala said … adding, “Facts!”

TMZ would ask the follow-up question of So, where she think Melo will land??? and she would reply  “Whatever team is gonna appreciate him!”

We will have to see where Melo will land next.

What do you think?
