The Oscars

Last Sunday at the Oscars, Oscar winner Will Smith delivered a slap to Chris Rock, seen and heard worldwide after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith.
The joke went like this, “Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see it, all right? ” Said Rock.
The only thing is that Pinkett-Smith is suffering from alopecia, which she announced to the world in 2018 via her Instagram. It causes her and others to lose their hair. Later, it was reported that Rock was not aware that he had the disease.
After the slap was heard worldwide, Smith returned to his seat and yelled out for Rock to let Pinkett Smith alone.
Rock would then reply that he was just making a “GI Jane” joke — and Smith yelled back at him again, saying, “Keep my wife’s name out your m***f***ing mouth.”
Rock replied, “That was the greatest night in the history of television.”
On Saturday afternoon, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was on Instagram Live, answering questions from fans when the six-time All-Star was asked to share his thoughts on the situation with the Sixers minority owner, Will Smith.
” I ain’t f*** that at all. I ain’t f*** with that s*** at all,” says Lillard.
This past week, Smith announced that he had resigned from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences.
“I am resigning from membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate,” Smith said in a statement shared with CNN by his publicist.
Adding, “Change takes time and I am committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason.”
Also, in a released statement, David Rubin, President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, shared that they accepted Smith’s “immediate resignation.”
“We will continue to move forward with our disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Smith for violations of the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, in advance of our next scheduled board meeting on April 18,” said Rubin.
In the aftermath of what transpired at The Oscars, Smith’s projects such as Bad Boys 4 and Fast and Loose have been reportedly put on hold, according to Vulture.com.
