The Los Angeles Clippers’ season came to an end on Wednesday night at the hands of Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors beat the Clippers 126-121 in their Play-In elimination game. Steph Curry finished the game with 35 points and four assists.
After the game, Curry was asked about a quote Draymond said about Kawhi Leonard. Draymond talked about priding himself on being prepared, but he had to live with the fear that Kawhi would embarrass him because of Kawhi’s offensive ability.
“He’s special. He’s a Hall of Famer—a true defensive savant when it comes to being in the right place at the right time and fully committing to the job. It’s not a fun job. Offensively, you have freedom—you can do whatever you want, make or miss shots. But defensively, you’re at the mercy of someone like Kawhi Leonard, who’s going to make you work all night,” said Curry.
“I think Draymond feeds off those battles and matchups—that’s what gets him going. It’s our job to have his back, but the way he played tonight and the level of impact he had was incredible. I’m honestly falling short on words to describe it. It was unbelievable.”
Steve Kerr and Kawhi Leonard Also Gave Draymond Green His Flowers
During his post-game press conference, Warriors coach Steve Kerr reacted to Green’s defensive performance against the 2019 Finals MVP.
“He’s the best defender I’ve ever seen in my life,” Kerr said. “It’s just insane what he does out there. The job he did on Kawhi. I thought our coaches of did a really good job of the game plan to blitz Kawhi and put and crowd around him. So the preparation was good and the players really followed through.”
Lenard finished the game with 21 points, shooting 47 percent from the field, and grabbed seven rebounds. And praised Green after the game, calling him a Hall of Fame defender and acknowledging it’s hard to get shots up against him.
“Hall of Fame defender,” said Leonard, who averaged 27.9 points a game during the 2025-26 season. “It was hard to even get shots up.”
Draymond Green would respond joyfully after hearing what Leonard had to say about his defensive effort on him.
“To hear one of the greats say that about me…that’s special. That’s why you do it. You want respect from your peers. That guy took a defensive player of the year award away from me…he’s a man of few words. I don’t think there’s a player in the NBA that does not respect Kawhi Leonard.”
Green would finish the game with seven points, six rebounds, and nine assists.
Chris Paul Trolls The Clippers Following the Loss
On Thursday, former Clippers guard and future Hall of Famer Chris Paul took to his Instagram story to poke fun at his former team. After they elected to send him home and eventually traded him to the Toronto Raptors, who would buy him before he announced his retirement.
Paul posted a photo of Big Fendi from his meme that went viral a few years ago, when the Music Executive posted the original with the caption, “Stopped by one of my biggest haters funeral today just to make sure that [n-word] was dead.”
Paul just added the final score of the Clippers and Warriors game.
Clippers Forward John Collins Might Already Have Summer Plans
A few years ago, now Clippers forward John Collins was a member of the Atlanta Hawks when he pulled up to The CrawsOver alongside former teammates Trae Young and DeJounte Murray. The trio, at the request of former Clippers guard and three-time Sixth Man of the Year, Jamal Crawford, came through and put on a show in the city of Seattle.
When Collins spoke to LandonBuford.com earlier this season, he praised Crawford for putting on for the city of Seattle, and he teased a return to Seattle if invited.
“Big shout outs to Mal always for having me out there last time,” said Collins.
“He puts on for the city of Seattle. I actually lived in Tacoma for a while, if you didn’t know, so I’ve got a lot of respect for him. You never know—you might see me back out there again.”
