5 Signs the Thomas Siblings Are Dead or in Prison in the OG Power Timeline

Starz
YouTuber Getting It How I Live recently revealed the Thomas family’s fate on the OG Power timeline in a compelling breakdown of a key mystery in the Power universe. He observed a striking absence after revisiting Raising Kanan (Seasons 1–3) and returning to Power (Seasons 1–6).
Clue #1: Kanan Telling Ghost & Tommy He Visited His Mother
In Power Season 2, Kanan tells Ghost and Tommy that he went to see his moms before heading straight to Ghost’s penthouse. There are two reasons why this comment is crucial:
1. Ghost and Tommy are not reacting. If Raq was still alive and active on the streets, they would have most likely acknowledged her presence or inquired about her. Their silence suggests she is either deceased or incarcerated.
2.Visiting her could mean going to jail or a grave. Throughout Power, we’ve seen characters regularly visit gravesites, including Ghost visiting Raina, Tariq visiting Raina, and even Vic Flynn visiting Gloria’s grave in Force. Kanan’s phrasing allows for both possibilities.
Clue #2: Tasha Says Kanan Has “No Family”
Ghost and Tasha in Power Season 5 are trying to identify who killed Ray Ray. Tasha asserts that portraying Kanan as a criminal makes sense because he lacks friends, family, and support.
- Raq’s presence would have prevented Tasha from making that statement, or Ghost would have corrected her.
- Marvin or Lou-Lou would probably have made their presence known at some point if they were still in the picture.
- As this strongly implies, Kanan’s entire family is either gone or out of the equation.
Clue #3: The News Report After Kanan’s Death
Kanan’s death in Power Season 5 was reported in a news report to have no known surviving next of kin. Despite this, they acknowledged his son, Shawn, who had been killed earlier.
- Their names would have likely been mentioned if any of the Thomas siblings were alive and free.
- The fact that the media had no record of living family members strongly suggests that they had either died or were serving long prison sentences.
Clue #4: Who Collected Kanan’s Ashes?
After Kanan’s death, Tariq picks up his ashes from the morgue using a fake ID with the name ‘Eric Stark’.
- Meanwhile, Ghost and Tommy identify Kanan’s body.
- If Raq, Marvin, or Lou-Lou were still alive, they had the right and responsibility to handle Kanan’s funeral arrangements.
- Tommy dumped his ashes off his rooftop while smoking a blunt, proving that Kanan had no remaining family.
Clue #5: No Mention of the Thomas Family from Shawn
Shawn, Kanan’s son, does not reference his grandfather (Raq) or great-uncles (Marvin & Lou-Lou). Instead:
- Ghost is taking care of Shawn while Kanan is in prison.
- While locked up, Ghost also contributes money to Kanan’s books.
- If the Thomas family were around, they would have helped raise Shawn, especially Raising Kanan, which shows how important family is to them.
What Likely Happened to the Thomas Family?
The Thomas siblings are most likely to face the following fates based on these clues:
- Raq was killed. Given her enemies in Raising Kanan, it’s possible that she was murdered before Kanan became an adult.
- Marvin’s criminal history suggests a long sentence, but his absence suggests the possibility of death.
- Lou-Lou may be dead or out of the game, but if he’s alive, he’s likely to have left the streets and cut all ties with Kanan.
These five clues strongly indicate that the Thomas siblings were no longer present when the OG Power timeline unfolded, even though Power hasn’t confirmed their ultimate fates.
