It’s been longtime since Joel Embiid started ” Trusting the process.”
But in an emotionally driven win over Ben Simmons and the Nets on Wednesday, he channeled his inner Shawn Michaels and Triple H using DXs’ patented “suck it” motion to celebrate one and one in the midst of the third.
Kevin Durant, missing his 8th straight with a sprain at MCL, tweeted live for much of the game. He was not a fan of Embiid’s celebration after his and one.
Calling it, “Trash.”
Embiid’s response was quite simply spectacular.
The celebration comes on the heels of the WWE Hall of Fame group being in Philadelphia on Monday to help celebrate Raw’s 30th anniversary at the Wells Fargo Center. With Embiid’s choice of gestures, he will most likely be hearing from the NBA soon, and he was either in the Crowd or watching Raw on television at home on Monday night, but one thing is for sure he is a fan of the wrestling program.
After the game, the Sixers’ five time All-Star could not stop laughing as he walked to the podium for his post game interview.
Embiid finished with 27 points but shot just 6 of 18 from the field in the 137-133 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Wednesday’s game against the Nets is also the first time Embiid faced Ben Simmons since he was traded from Philly to Brooklyn along with Seth Curry, Andre Drummond 2023 first-round pick, 2027 first-round pick (top-eight protected) in exchange for James Harden, and Paul Millsap.
Simmons finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
