The Memphis Grizzlies took on the Los Angeles Lakers on the road and came in on an 11-game win streak. Unfortunately for Memphis, when the final buzzer sounded, they lost by one point [122-121]. However, Dennis Schröder came up with a key steal at the end of the game and turned it into an and one to give the Lakers the victory and stop the Grizzlies’ streak.
After the game, Ja Morant father, Tee Morant told Lakers’ forward Anthony Davis that he didn’t want with the Grizzlies.
“Ay, You be dunking the smoke. You don’t want no Memphis’ smoke,” said Morant.
Anthony Davis replied, “What smoke ?” while point at Ja.
Everything was smiles and laugher after the game on the court, but during the first half there was a totally different story. The older Morant got into a back and forth with NFL Hall of Famer turned sports analyst, Shannon Sharpe and both had to be separated by security.
On the video of the incident, Dillon Brooks of the Grizzlies was screaming in the direction of Sharpe as he returned to the Grizzlies’ bench. Sharpe then calls Brooks, telling him to approach him. Grizzlies center Steven Adams then walked toward Sharpe, and the altercation escalated as the rest of the players followed. Sharpe was sitting courtside.
“They didn’t want this smoke,” Sharpe told ESPN. “They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about the jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said ‘F***’ me I said, ‘F***’ you back. He started to come at me and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’
“And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn’t want no problems. But I wanted anything they had. Don’t let these fools fool you now.”
After halftime, you could see Sharpe and the eldest Morant smiling and hugging.
