Since the started of the 2022-23 season the started Los Angeles Lakers fans have been hoping to see upgrades to their current roster.
There have been a lot of rumors of targets. Still, one thing has been consistent across multiple reports: The Lakers are reluctant to include their two draft picks, in particular those of the first round unless they bring back a package that will greatly improve the team right now.
A recent conversation that Sean Deveney from Heavy.com had with a Western Conference executive will not really encourage anxious fans. This executive said that the owner of the Lakers, Jeanie Buss, supports the idea of not exchanging draft picks, although such an agreement would improve the team right now.
“However, according to a Western Conference executive who spoke with Heavy On Sports’ Sean Deveney under the condition of anonymity, the Lakers are unlikely to trade away their future in order to improve the current iteration of their roster – a move which Jeanie Buss supports,” Heavy.com’s Adam Taylor wrote.
In the Lakers’ Legacy Documentary that debuted over the summer, it is ‘ultimately’ her decision regarding player movement and basketball decisions with the Lakers.
Meanwhile, an known LeBron James associate by name of Cuff The Legend took to Instagram and share a post with the caption “Calling All Units.. Calling All Units.”
“Calling all units, calling all units suspects last seen in El Segundo, California. Last name Pelinka, last name Buss, suspects last seen stealing paychecks, hoarding picks, and f***ing around with LeBron James’ legacy,” said The Legend.
Former NBA veteran Kendrick Perkins agrees.
On Thursday afternoon on NBA Today, Perkins shared his opinion on the situation.
It almost feels like Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss are punishing LeBron James for the Russell Westbrook trade.
