Commanders’ Great Sean Taylor’s Brother Sounds Off-On Washington’s Tribute to Sean Taylor

Sean Taylor’s half-brother Jamal Johnson saw no issues with the Commanders’ memorial of the late Pro Bowler on Sunday; according to TMZ Sports, the whole thing was “an honor,” and expects to see additional elements added over time.

“It was greatly appreciated and an honor that his legacy lives on in D.C.,” Johnson said … adding, “I was at a loss for words.”

Washington formally unveiled the Taylor Tribute to FedEx Field on the 15th anniversary of the tragic death of free security just before the team began their game against the Falcons.

The fans scattered all over the place to see it, but many found it disappointing, noting that it was simply a wire mannequin covered with mismatched equipment.

Of the criticism, Johnson said “everyone is entitled to an opinion,” but he noted that he did not expect that that would be the end of the commanders’ tributes to Taylor.

However, Taylor’s daughter Jackie revealed it was intentional when interviewed by wusa9.

“It was something that was super special to him and something he chose to do,” she told WUSA9. “It was beautiful, honestly. They put everything that he wore — soccer cleats, little things that were special to him and that he did as a player. That was really special.”

Before the game, several Commanders players wore Taylor jerseys to the stadium and said it was important to honor the hard-hitting Safety.

“They came up to us earlier in the week and told us that there was going to be the revealing of the Sean Taylor everything,” safety Darrick Forest said. “It’s just about pride. We want to let his legacy live, so we went out there and did our thing.”

Taylor was only 24 years old when he was killed in his hometown of Miami.
