The conference allowed numerous vendors to showcase what their businesses had to offer. It also showcased a fashion show. Before the event got started Smalley spoke with Lushes Barbie and during their interview, she shared that her background was in Psychology and mental and health.
“But, I didn’t want to work for anybody, and I knew there would be another avenue where I reach more people without being restricted. So, I was in my Ph.D. Program, and I was having a nervous breakdown because I was tired and I wasn’t making no money,” said Smalley.
“But, I was in so much debt and woke up and told my husband that I was dropping out of school and in that same night I saw life coaching on television. I saw John Maxwell, which became one of my mentors and I was like what’s this life coaching thing. So, I got out and I have been coaching for 16 years.”
During the same event, LandonBuford.com spoke with Jeannetta Collier, who is the Founder and CEO of Imaginary Glass Ceiling, NuBlac’ Investments, and Jeannetta Collier Enterprises. She is also the creator and producer of Boss Ladies of Dallas.
“The inspiration for the Boss Ladies of Dallas was based on seeing these other reality shows and portraying us women of color as less than. They were so focused on our bodies and hair, not on what we bring to the table and what we do. But that was my inspiration; I want to bring something that was inspiring for even young women to look at and be proud of,” said Collier.
Why did she feel it was time to change the narrative?
“It was time to change the narrative because we are more than what they want us to be, and there’s so much violence and discord in the world right now, and we need to come together. We bring together sisterhood and empower women, and I know that is what Boss Ladies of Dallas will do.”
Boss Ladies of Dallas can be found on Facebook & IG and Collier shares where else it can be found.
“We have been seen on the big screen. We were featured in the film ‘Him’ at the Cinema and were on Roku and fire stick. You can also find us on Facebook and IG, but we are working diligently to get a big network to pick us up because we know we will blow it up. Only time will tell, but it’s going to happen.”
She added, “NuBlac’ Investments is an investment I have. I house my real estate investment there and teach women how to invest in real estate. As women, we need to know how to take care of ourselves and real estate is one of the fastest-growing industries and the quickest path to becoming a millionaire. So, I do that, and we have Imaginary Glass Ceiling, a business where I do my seminars, workshops, and speaking engagements women break that imaginary glass ceiling. That cooperate glass ceiling saying that we can’t do, and my final one is Jeannetta Collier Enterprises houses all my other things the production company, speaking company, I’m an author of a book called ‘The Best You.”
