Reality stars Todd, and Julie Chrisley were convicted on Monday on bank fraud and tax evasion charges.

He was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment plus 16 months of probation. His wife and co-star of Chrisley Knows Best were sentenced to seven years imprisonment and 16 months probation.

In June, the couple was found guilty of inflating their equity in order to get more than $30 million in fraudulent loans. They were also found to have evaded their taxes since 2009 and to have hidden their earnings from the IRS issuance.

(In fact, their accountant, Peter Tarantino, was convicted of filing false returns on their behalf. He was sentenced to three years in prison. ) Julie was also found guilty of online fraud and obstruction of justice.

The Chrisleys denied any wrongdoing, and their lawyer said they were unaware of an employee who had defrauded the government.

The Chrisleys could have faced far longer punishments. Prosecutors had applied for a maximum sentence of 22 years for Todd and 13 years for Julie.

“The seriousness of the Chrisleys’ crimes cannot be understated. After they defrauded community banks out of tens of millions of dollars, they hid millions of dollars from the IRS, all while going on television to boast about how much they spend on designer clothes,” they wrote in their request. “And when they learned that they were under investigation for those crimes, they involved their own family members and friends to obstruct justice.”
