Kevin Hart is showing out in season 2 of “Heart To Hart” because he has Jay-Z talking about milestones in his legendary career, and what it takes to get a guest verse from him today.
The interview with Jay-Z follow ups Hart’s interview with Pete Davidson, and while speaking with Hov they chatted about his rap retirement in 2003 ended with an album, “Kingdom Come,” and his song “Lost Ones,” which made him and his best friend Ty confront the nature of death.
Jay-Z admitted that he was downgrading musically since the release of his last album in 2017, but he still makes his share of feature appearances when invited along the way, as he did with “Neck & Wrist” by Pusha T and “I Got The Keys” by DJ Khaled.
In spite of being the first rap billionaire, Jay-Z says he never charges for features, nor does he beg artists to be part of their project.
He also revealed that he refuses more requests than he approves, usually because of timing or simply because he doesn’t like the single altogether.
Although Jay elected not name names, we know that 2 Chainz was told no when he was preparing his 2020 album “So Help Me God.”
2 Chainz did not get a response for a single made for Jay-Z and the Atlanta rapper decided to stop trying to be apart of Hov’s catalog.
