Snowfall’s Amin Joseph On Ranking Snowfall, Power, & The Wire, “Snowfall!”

FX

Last year, Powers’ Omari Hardwick [Ghost AKA James St. Patrick] was a guest on Welcome to Higher Learning hosted by Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay, powered by The Ringer.

During that appearance, Hardwick was asked to rank Power, Snowfall, and The Wire.

“Awesome question. I think we’re as f***, so we were dominant AF for four seasons. Dominate, like bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. I think ‘Snowfall,’ shout outs to our beloved late and great John Singleton. Which is partly why Damson [Idris] are going to work together because John was very keen on both of us as young actors. And We decided to continue what John would’ve wanted us to continue, so Damson and I will do that. And I can’t wait to start curate work with him. I’ll say it’s a fascinating thing story-wise as to what they created. So, I’ll give it a great ranking, but it can’t be in the ranking of those two that are tried, tribulated, and now done. And remember the spins off of power are not necessarily consistent to that which I’ve done,” said Hardwick.

“And once my character was over, now I am counting that show only. To your point, not ‘Ghost,’ not ‘Force’ with Joseph Sikora. I’m so freaking happy he got that, especially Joseph. And what not, obviously Michael Rainey has been able to do and Keep going with ‘Tariq.’ I can’t say that on the list would be ‘Snowfall’ at this point because it’s still running and still balling. And still trying to figure out the crossover and the fadeaway. They haven’t proven all of that yet.

But I would say consistently speaking, the convoluted storyline on both sides. Cops, the wiretap, the governmental officials over the cops, the drug dealers, the family member of drug dealers. They consistently showed up in the writers’ room included and the acting, the crew, and how it was shot, and to me, they edge us out by a season. Because I think we were dominant for four seasons in a very beautiful, handsome, stunning way. I think ‘The Wire’ went five years. It was five seasons, and we talk about it like it was ten.”

Hardwick would add, “I would us number two, and would say that ‘Snowfall’ is a very, which is a compliment because they’re because they are still rocking. I would give them number 3. That’s pretty good company to be in.”

Speaking of Snowfall Amin Joseph, who plays Jerome Saint on the show was on Instagram Live listening to old school hip hop like KRS One and later Boosie Badazz. During the Live session, Joseph was answering questions including when he was asked to rank Snowfall, The Wire, and Power.

“Snowfall…F*** you think I say,” said Joseph.

After getting off Instagram Live he jumped on Twitter Spaces to talk about his podcast with Shondaland called ‘#Matter with Pooch Hall, Dylan Brown, Jennifer Christopher, & Reagan Gomez. The podcast is Shondaland first scripted podcast series, according to Shondaland.com.

The series is eight episode about Gerald Hayes, who witnesses his teenage son, Niles (Nile Bullock), brutally beaten by the police, makes a split-second decision that leads to a hostage situation. Gerald uses social media for self-defense.
