Power Book II: Ghost’s Alix Lapri, Says Effie Morales’ Character Breakdown Was Vague & She Was Firm In What She Believes In

Earlier this month, Michael Rainey Jr & Gianni Paolo announced their new podcast, ‘The Crew Has It,’ which will have members of the Power Universe and other celebrities discuss the different shows within the Power Universe.

This week, their first guest was Alix Lapri, who plays Effie Morales on Power Book II: Ghost. In episode two of ‘The Crew Has It,’ Lapri revealed that she did not follow the show before being cast as Effie. However, she has worked with 50 Cent before in “Den of Thieves,” as the character, Maloa was released in 2018.

“After I did Den of Thieves, I love how he was, so I figured out that he was affiliated with Power, and I was like, I want to do that too. I enjoyed over a year for an audition, and they kept saying there was nothing. I want to be on Power; I want to deal drugs and shoot people. I want to do all that super cool s***. So, finally, Effie came across my desk, and I auditioned for it,” said Lapri.

Paolo would then ask her what the character breakdown of Effie Morales was?

“I remember they said that she’s bisexual. That literally the only thing I remember. It was very vague! They were like, she is super firm in what she believes in and she’s bisexual.”

She was living in Atlanta and sent in a self-audition tape and then was asked if she remembered her audition scene.

“Yeah, it was the Whole you are going to need more than just Brayden to do it, he is just as discrete as a golden retriever. [That was season six episode 2 of the original Power] That was one of my audition scenes and the other was with me and you [Michael Rainey Jr.] in the hallway were I like, what the f*** are you doing, you need to the f*** out of this school.”

She then talked about working a couple of episodes in Ghost season one and becoming a regular-season actress in season two.

Season three of Power Book II: Ghost is slated to premiere later this year.
