SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm announced today the team has waived guards Kennedy Burke, Evina Westbrook, and forward Kiki Herbert Harrigan.
Burke, a former 2nd round pick (No. 22 overall) by the Dallas Wings in the 2018 WNBA Draft, appeared in 23 games with the Storm after being traded from Indiana prior to the 2021 season. The former UCLA product scored a season-high seven points against Chicago on Aug. 29 and scored her 300th career point on a three-pointer vs Dallas on May 22. With the Bruins, Burke scored 1,513 career points, averaging 11.0 per game, becoming the fourth player in UCLA women’s basketball history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocks.
Harrigan was a first-round selection (No. 6 overall) by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2020 WNBA draft. She appeared in 21 games for the Lynx, averaging 3.8 ppg and 2.3 rpg, finishing second on the team and seventh among WNBA rookies with nine blocks. Harrigan averaged 2.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in the Storm’s two preseason games. She wrapped up her career at South Carolina by being named the Most Valuable Player of the 2020 SEC Tournament, averaging 14.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 2.00 bpg in wins over Georgia, Arkansas and Mississippi State to cap the Gamecocks’ 32-1 season.
Westbrook, a 6-0 guard who originally hails from Salem, Oregon, spent her final two season at UConn after two years with Tennessee. She closed out her career leading the Huskies to a pair of Final Four appearances including a title game berth in 2022. She averaged 9.0 ppg in 2021-22 including a 12-point, six-rebound performance against Stanford to propel UConn to the NCAA Championship Game. She scored 15 points and added four rebounds in the Storm’s 82-78 win in Phoenix to close out the preseason earlier this week.
